Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik allocated the Health and Family Welfare department to Niranjan Pujari on Monday following the death of Naba Das, who held the portfolio since 2019. Pujari will hold the Health and Family Welfare portfolio in addition to the finance portfolio.
An official release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Monday read, “With the approval of Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik allocates Health and Family Welfare department to Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari.”
It is worth mentioning here that Naba Kishore Das died on Sunday evening after he was shot by Gopal Das, an assistant sub-inspector of police, while the minister was on a visit to his home constituency in Jharsuguda. The mortal remains of Naba Kishore Das have been taken to his ancestral village on Monday and the last rituals would be held there with state honours. The Odisha government has also declared three-day mourning in the state.
