Bhubaneswar: Director General of Odisha Fire Service, Satyajit Mohanty, on Monday felicitated the three personnel of the department after they donated plasma at the SCB Medical College & Hospital.
Station Officer Prakash Chandra Muduli of Jaleswar Fire Station, Station Officer Sourav Rout of Jajpur Road Fire Station and Fireman-216, Satyabrat Routray of Mahakalapada Fire Station received a ‘Letter Of Appreciation’ each from Mohanty along with the reward of 2500 each and Good Service Mark.
This is what the ‘Letter Of Appreciation’ read:
This is to place on record my deep appreciation for donating plasma for recovery of the critical Covid patients.
By such noble and humane gesture, you will not only help saving a life, but have set an example before others in the organisation and been true to its spirit – “we serve to save”.
As a token of our appreciation, you are awarded with double Good Service Marks.
I hope you will continue to set example of such selfless service in your career ahead.
These three are among the ten Fire Services personnel who volunteered to donate plasma in the first phase after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik appealed the Covid recovered persons to donate plasma to treat the critical patients.
Around 372 personnel of the OFS had gone to West Bengal for restoration work after Cyclone Amphan had hit the State and had worked in Kolkata and Howrah. On return, 192 of them were infected with Covid but now are on active duty after recovery.
Prior to this, four OFS personnel have donated plasma after recovering from COVID-19 and becoming eligible for donation. Home Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra is scheduled to visit the Fire Service Directorate at 4:30 PM on July 28 to felicitate the plasma donors.
