Odisha Fire Service Teams Audit Fire Safety Measures In Covid Facilities

Bhubaneswar: As many as 39 teams of Odisha Fire Service today visited 33 Covid Hospitals, 26 Covid Care Centres and one Covid Isolation Centre to ascertain the adequacy and operability of fire safety measure in those premises.

Consequent upon the fire incident at Sadguru Covid Hospital, Jagatpur, Cuttack, the DGP, Fire Services directed Asst. Fire Officers and Dy. Fire Officers to visit the Covid-19 Hospitals/ Covid Care Centres under their respective jurisdictions to audit the fire safety measures in place in those premises and to conduct mock fire safety drills and advise the hospital authorities on required safety measures, if any, said an official press release.

During the visit to different premises, the senior officers of Odisha Fire Service conducted mock fire safety drill and awareness programmes to make the inmates conversant on emergency evacuation procedure, operation of different fire safety gadgets and advised the hospital authorities on required fire safety measures, the press release stated.

Such exercise will be part of the continuing efforts of the Odisha Fire Services for a safer environment in the Covid facilities of the State, the press release added.
