Bhubaneswar: Amid skyrocketing prices of vegetables, food items and other essential commodities, the Odisha government today warned the traders, especially the retail businessmen of strict action if they resort to price hike.
Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra today said that no traders can sell any essential commodities at high prices.
“I have directed the departmental officials to conduct raids on the unscrupulous traders who are found selling commodities at high prices. As per norms, a retail trader can keep Rs 4 -5 profit after transportation charges,” he said.
If any complaint is received in this regard, strict action will be taken against the erring traders, the Minister added.
The prices of vegetables have touched Rs 100 per kg in the local market.
