Odisha: Forest Officials Seize Bus, Detain Driver For Killing Three Elephants

Keonjhar: The Forest Department sleuths have seized a bus which was responsible for mowing down three elephants on Wednesday night.

The forest department officials ascertained from CCTV footage that it was a speeding bus which was responsible for the mishap killing three tuskers.

The bus has been seized and the driver detained for further investigation. Reports stated that the driver fled with the vehicle from the spot and had parked the bus in Barbil from where he was nabbed.

The fatal incident occurred on National Highway 20 near Balijodi under Ghatagaon Forest Range of Keonjhar district on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.

Initially it was suspected that a truck had mowed down the elephants after colliding with a herd. However, sustained probe revealed the actual cause behind the accident.
