Deogarh: Forest department officials in Odisha’s Deogarh district have seized a leopard skin late on Monday night and arrested six persons in this connection.
The leopard skin was seized during a raid by Forest department officials in Chhatibarghat village under Tileibani section of Deogarh Forest division said a Forest department official while adding that six persons have been arrested.
“We have seized a leopard skin from Chhatibarghat village and have arrested six persons. During the course of our investigation, we came to know that these persons would have smuggled the hide to either Rourkela or Sambalpur,” informed Deogarh Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Kshyama Sarangi.
She added that the involvement of people from other districts cannot be ruled out since the arrested include people from other districts.
“The seized leopard skin could have come from another district. The matter is under investigation,” the DFO further said.
