Odisha: Freedom Fighter Dayanidhi Nayak Passes Away

Bhubaneswar: Days before 73rd Independence Day, noted freedom fighter Dayanidhi Nayak from Odisha's Bargarh passed away on Saturday. He was 95.

Nayak breathed his last at around 7.30 am today. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bargarh for past one month. The late freedom fighter is survived by his daughter Swarupa Nayak.

As per reports, Nayak was part of the Quit India Movement and had been arrested for being part of India's freedom struggle. Inspired by Gandhi, he had sacrificed all comforts to achieve freedom.

District Collector Indramani Tripathy, Minister Susanta Singh, Padampur Sub-Collector Tanmaya Daruan, former Minister Prakash Debta, BJP leader Irasis Acharya among others visited Nayak's village Panimora and paid their tributes.

It is notable to mention here that two freedom fighters Sahadev Behera of Nayagarh and Nilamani Samal of Jajpur had been felicitated by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday for their service to the nation.
