Odisha Gana Sikhyakas Protest Before Ministers’ Residences
**Bhubaneswar: ** Hundreds of school teachers (Gana Sikhyakas) on Monday staged protests seeking regularization of jobs in front of the houses of six ministers in Bhubaneswar.
They have staged dharna outside the residence of ministers Debi Mishra, Arun Sahoo, Pranab Das, Bikram Arukh and Pradeep Amat.
The agitating teachers allege that despite frequent assurances, the government is taking no concrete steps to regularize their jobs. Though it had issued notificaltion for the regularization of jobs of Gana Sihyakas five months ago, but the required modalities have not been published yet.
Moreover, the government has also put Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) in the modalities yet to be published in the coming days, resulting which more than 17000 trained Gana Sikhyakas would be deprived of getting permanent jobs, according to a teacher.
Meanwhile, the police have detained 50 of the agitating teachers who were protesting before the house of minister Debi Mishra, School and Mass Education Minister.
According to the minister, a decision would be taken on the formulation of of modalities very soon. But, the teachers could have discussed the issues with the government instead protesting.
