Bhubaneswar: The Department of Water Resources convened a crucial preliminary review meeting on Monday to strategize preparations for the 2025 flood season.
Chaired by Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg, the meeting focused on ensuring robust flood management measures across the state.
The meeting, attended by senior officials including the Chief Engineer, Chief Engineer-cum-Special Secretary, Chief Engineer (Procurement), and other Chief Engineers, underscored the need for proactive steps to mitigate flood risks.
Garg directed officials to prioritize timely inspections of river embankments, conduct mock drills, ensure thorough cleaning of drainage systems, and establish strong coordination at all levels.
Presentations and updates on mock drills for water management in medium and large reservoirs were shared, highlighting the department’s efforts to enhance preparedness.
The directives aim to strengthen the state’s resilience against potential flooding, ensuring the safety of lives and property during the monsoon season.
