Bhubaneswar: A total of 576 Hindi and Sanskrit teachers joined various government high schools in the state on Thursday. Of them, 368 are Hindi and 208 are Sanskrit teachers.

These teachers were given appointment letters in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at an orientation programme and a recruitment function at the convention center in Lok Seva Bhawan.

Welcoming the new teachers and students on this occasion, the Chief Minister said that education changes the thinking and consciousness of a nation. He told the teachers to inspire the children to fulfill their dreams. The Chief Minister also advised the teachers to create role models for the students.

Expressing that the 5T School Transformation Programme is continuing to achieve this goal, Patnaik said that this has brought about a complete transformation in the infrastructure and environment of schools in the state. There has been a significant improvement in the quality of education in all government and government-aided schools of the state.

The Chief Minister said that 4,605 new classrooms, 16,920 smart classrooms, 7,863 modern laboratories, and 7,920 e-libraries have been created through the high school transformation programme.

Stating that emphasis is being given to recruiting more teachers in the state, the Chief Minister said that the state government has appointed 4,742 teachers in the current academic year at the secondary level.

Attending the programme, the Minister of School and Public Education Sudam Marndi said that the Education Department has achieved top results based on the 5T mantra under the direction of the Chief Minister. He opined that when the standard of education increases, the country develops. He advised the teachers to make efforts to improve the moral thinking of the children.

Two recruits, Reshma Behera and Sashmita Nayak, narrated their experiences. While everyone in Reshma’s family is a teacher, Sashmita says she is the first government employee in her family. Both of them expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for being able to join the teaching profession and for completing the recruitment process based on 5T in a transparent and bureaucratic manner. Sashmita said that they pledge to provide education with a commitment to the future of children.

Education Department Secretary Aswathy S delivered the welcome speech and Director Sushant Das proposed the vote of thanks.
