Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has swung into action to assess the damage caused by the recent heavy rainfall in the state.
In a letter to District Collectors, the Special Relief Commissioner’s (SRC) Office has directed them to submit a report at the earliest after assessing the damage.
The SRC has specifically asked the Collectors of ten districts – Sambalpur, Sonepur, Nayagarh, Angul, Boudh, Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara – to remain on high alert and take necessary precautions to minimize the impact of the heavy rains.
The Collectors have been instructed to give special attention to people residing in low-lying areas and restrict entry to submerged roads, culverts, and bridges. They have also been asked to inform the SRC immediately about any untoward incidents.
The move comes as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety and prevent any potential loss of life and property. The SRC’s Office is closely monitoring the situation and will take further action based on the assessment reports received from the District Collectors.
