Bhubaneswar: Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati stressed the importance of patience, courage, and proper guidance in overcoming drug addiction while addressing an awareness campaign at Raj Bhavan. The event, held at the New Abhishek Hall, aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of addiction and the importance of de-addiction.
The Governor noted that addiction is a complex issue that requires time, courage, family support, and community awareness to overcome. He expressed concern over the increasing problem of addiction, highlighting its devastating impact on individuals, families, and society as a whole. Addiction not only damages health but also breaks relationships and creates social and legal problems.
Dr. Kambhampati emphasised the need for strong family support, widespread community awareness, and early intervention to prevent the youth from falling prey to drug abuse. He also highlighted that people often get addicted due to pressure, peer influence, mental health issues, or curiosity, and over time, they become dependent on the substance.
DIG, STF Pinak Mishra, in his speech, discussed the growing problem of drug abuse, government initiatives to reduce it, and ways to address the issue. The program was attended by Crime Branch DG Binaytosh Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Governor NBA NBS Rajput, and officials and staff of Raj Bhavan.
