Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday launched 26 new state-of-the-art ‘108’ ambulances to provide emergency healthcare services to the people of the State.
Patnaik flagged off the emergency vehicles at a programme in his residence on Wednesday evening.
The 26 new ambulances were procured from the State’s own funds. The government has spent Rs 10.92 crores for the purpose, a release issued by the CMO stated.
It is worth mentioning, that the emergency ambulance service is successfully functioning in the State to take accident victims, natural calamities victims, pregnant women, and critically ill people to the nearest hospital free of cost.
With the addition of the 26 new ambulances, the healthcare sector will be strengthened further in the State, the CMO said. This emergency ambulance service facility is available in the state by calling toll-free number ‘108’.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Niranjan Pujari, 5T Secretary VK Pandian, and Health Secretary Shalini Pandit attended the event.
