Bhubaneswar: The State Government has granted discretion to MPs/MLAs to recommend up to 15 deserving cases of teacher transfers within their constituency area to the concerned Collector of the District. This decision applies to both elementary and secondary teachers.
Girish Chandra Singh, Joint Secretary of the School and Mass Education Department, wrote a letter to the Director of Secondary Education and the Director of Elementary Education in this regard.
The transfers will be considered by the District Level Transfer Committee (DLTC) during the current transfer session, subject to certain conditions. These conditions include:
– The transfer should not violate the principle of rationalization.
– Priority should be given to teachers with urgent needs.
– No teacher should be transferred from a rural area to an urban area.
– This discretion is applicable only for intra-district transfers.
The proposals from MPs/MLAs will be submitted to the concerned District Collector or Nodal Collector, who will dispose of them through the DLTC. In the case of Rajya Sabha MPs, the list will be submitted to the Director of Secondary Education, who will forward it to the respective Collectors.
This provision is a one-time measure, applicable only for the current educational year, and all proposals must be submitted and disposed of between May 15th and June 15th. The Directors of Secondary and Elementary Education have been requested to take necessary follow-up action accordingly.
