**Bhubaneswar**: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday announced pension for senior handloom weavers working in the State.
The Chief Minister launched ‘Baristha Bunakar Sahayata Yojana’ on the occasion of second National Handloom Day at Jaidev Bhawan here.
“Today on this occasion of National Handloom Day, Odisha Government launched Baristha Bunakar Sahayata Yojana for our weavers. Weavers having 20 years of working experience and above 60 years of age will get a monthly financial assistance of Rs 500 and after attaining the age of 80; it will be enhanced to Rs 700 per month. It will be directly credited to their bank accounts,” Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik told media persons during the launching function
“People from the weavers’ community will be provided financial assistance of Rs 700 per month which will directly go to their bank accounts. We hope this will definitely help augment their financial resources,” Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Minister Snehangini Chhuria said.
With this, around 8000 weavers would be benefitted out of the scheme.
