Bhubaneswar: The State government today appointed 376 people including 85 homeopathic doctors, 239 radiographers from the health department and 52 lecturers from the higher education department in a Nijukti Mela at Lok Seva Bhavan.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who attended the program congratulated the newly appointed doctors, lecturers, and radiographers and advised them to work with professional skills and service spirit. He advised them not to spend money on government jobs but to remain committed to their duties and not give vent to corruption. He said that Odisha has not achieved the transparency it should have in the health and education sectors.
“We have not been able to achieve our real potential. Odisha has come down to the third place among 28 states in the recently published health ranking by the NITI Aayog. Odisha has got only 40.19 out of 100. But earlier, it was widely advertised in the name of global health services. Now this situation has to be changed,” the Chief Minister said. “We have to be among the top ten best service providers in the country,” Majhi said.
The Chief Minister advised the newly appointed officials to take a decision to cooperate with the government in this direction. The Chief Minister said that there is a need for infrastructure and trained human resources for good health services. The state government is working systematically to solve both these problems. He said that medical colleges and hospitals will be established in all the districts of the state in the next five years.
Along with the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, the state government’s Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana will play an important role in providing good health services to the people. The CM added that six recruitment drives have been held in the last six months, and the recruitment process of more than 20,000 educated youth is being taken forward.
In the health sector, the Chief Minister announced that along with the recruitment of homoeopathic doctors and radiographers, ‘Pharmacy Officers’ will soon be appointed in government hospitals. Along with this, the Chief Minister said that 422 homoeopathic and Ayurvedic hospitals in Odisha have been upgraded as ‘Ayushman Arogya Mandirs’ under the National AYUSH Mission.
He said that three more 50-bed integrated AYUSH hospitals are being set up in Dhenkanal, Berhampur, and Balasore.
Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj said that the Chief Minister has directed to expedite the recruitment process. Therefore, now Nijukti Melas (recruitment drives) are being organized almost every month.
Development Commissioner Anu Garg said that women employees need to come out of their comfort zone and showcase their skills. They should not feel inferior to men under any circumstances. She emphasized the importance of increasing their knowledge and skills personally along with work.
In the program, newly appointed doctors and lecturers shared their experience regarding the recruitment process and said that the Chief Minister has expedited the recruitment process and has also brought transparency in it. They said that they will work with sincerity and a spirit of service.
