Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today appointed Chairpersons for 14 new Special Development Councils (SDCs). The appointments were made following the approval of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The 14 newly appointed Chairpersons are Angul district-Sadasiv Nayak, Balasore district- Madan Mohan Majhi, Bolangir district-Brajamohan Bisoyi, Boudh district-Bhagaban Kanhar, Dhenkanal district-Surendra Hembram, Jajpur district-Lambodhar Munda, Kalahandi district-Shivaji Majhi, Nuapada district-Bhagatram Majhi, Sambalpur district-Sovaram Pradhan, Bargarh district-Panjia Bhoi, Bargarh district-Sushila Bhoi, Jharsuguda district-Mohan Kisan, Nayagarh district-Janaki Dehury, and Ganjam district-Bidyadhar Jani.
It is worth mentioning here that SDCs have been implemented in nine districts since 2017. Recently, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik decided to expand SDCs to another 14 districts. Measures will be taken to protect and conserve the art, culture and heritage of tribals through these SDCs.
