Bhubaneswar: One sunstroke death has been reported from Balasore in Odisha, informed Public Health Director Dr Niranjan Mishra on Friday.
Dr Mishra has further informed that so far 71 persons have been hospitalised for sunstroke and heat-related illness. A maximum of 35 persons were hospitalised in Sundargarh district, and 7 each in Mayurbhanj and Angul districts. Similarly, 6 persons were admitted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar for heat-related illness, he added.
The Public Health Director said that all arrangements were made in advance for providing healthcare in view of the heatwave.
Dr Mishra has advised elderly persons, persons afflicted with diseases and pregnant women to avoid going outside during peak hours. If it’s unavoidable they should carry an umbrella, drinking water and a wet towel over their heads.
