Odisha Govt Considering Further Revision In School Timings

Bhubaneswar: In view of the sudden rise in temperature and possible heatwave conditions, the Odisha government is considering a further revision in school timings for classes 9 to 12.

“In view of the rising temperature, we are considering changing of school timings. After returning from here we will take a decision in this regard,” informed School and Mass Education Minister Samir Das while talking to reporters at Bhadrak today.

The Minister was on a tour to Bhadrak district today and visited several schools. Later he held a meeting with the district administration at the district headquarters.

The State government on Friday last had revised the class timings for Classes IX and XI to 7.00 AM-9.00 AM instead of the earlier 8.30 AM-10.00 AM.

Similarly, the timings for Classes X and XII were revised to 9.00 AM-1.00 PM from the earlier timing of 11.00 AM -4.00 PM.

Earlier, the Odisha Secondary School Teachers Association (OSSTA) and Congress party had opposed the revised timing effected by the State government in view of the rising temperature which they claimed would affect the safety of students as well as teachers.
