Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday dismissed Lambodara Behera, Senior Revenue Assistant, District Planning & Monitoring Unit, Angul from Government Service for bribery.
“Following conviction of Lambodara Behera, Senior Revenue Assistant, Odisha Vigilance had communicated in this regard to the competent authority to take appropriate action against Behera. Accordingly, Lambodara Behera, Senior Revenue Assistant, District Planning & Monitoring Unit, Angul was dismissed from Govt. Service by the competent authority for bribery,” read an official press release.
Behera was convicted by a Vigilance Court in Angul on 25 July 2024 and sentenced to 2 years rigorous imprisonment and fine for the offence under section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988. The Court further sentenced him to 1 year rigorous imprisonment and fine for the offence under section 7 of PC Act, 1988.
Behera was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under section 13(2) read with 13(1) (d)/7 P.C. Act,1988 for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant for finalization of mutation case and handing over RoR (Patta) after necessary correction when he was serving as Senior Clerk in Chhendipada Tahasil of Angul district.
