Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Energy Department has taken a significant step towards promoting renewable energy and reducing carbon footprint by drafting the Odisha Pumped Storage Projects (PSP) Policy 2025.
The move aims to create a favourable ecosystem for renewable energy development, accelerate clean energy adoption, and attract investments in PSPs.
A high-level meeting, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo, was held to discuss the policy framework. Singh Deo emphasized the need for separate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for state-identified and self-identified off-the-river PSPs. The policy will provide detailed SOPs and operational guidelines for PSPs.
The meeting was attended by Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Principal Secretary of Energy Department Vishal Dev, EIC Electricity Pyarimohan Mishra, and senior officials from OHPC, GRIDCO, and Water Resources.
The Odisha Renewable Energy Policy, 2022, notified earlier, has laid the groundwork for this initiative.
