Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths today arrested an official of the Sub-Collector’s office in Khordha on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe.
One Tapan Kumar Nayak serving as a head clerk in the Khordha Sub-Collector’s office was arrested by the Vigilance after he was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 from complainant Raja Nayak to process a file for revalidating permission for sale of his land to general category person.
Based on a complaint lodged by Raja Nayak, Vigilance department sleuths laid a trap which led to the arrest of accused Tapan Kumar Nayak.
A press release issued by the Vigilance department said that bribe money was recovered and seized from Tapan Kumar Nayak in presence of witnesses.
Both hands wash of the accused gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him, the press release added.
A case under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against him and is under investigation, the press release further said.
