Odisha Govt Extends ‘Mamata Yojana’ Relaxation For ST Women 5 Yrs More

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government today announced to extend the relaxation meant for the ST (PVTG) women for another five years under the Mamata Yojana in a bid to decrease mortality rate of both the mother and her infant.

As per a press note, the facilities were reaped by those women from 2014 to 2019. Besides, the State Government has made relaxation in the criteria for these women.

According to the relaxation, these PVTG women are entitled to get prescribed benefits and financial assistance even after giving birth to more than two children.

Citing instance of Budai Dhangada Majhi hailing from Bandhaguda village under Khairput block in tribal-dominated Malkangiri district, the State Government stated that she has already reaped the benefit as per the Mamata Yojana during her third issue in 2017. This has encouraged other women of her community for opting institutional delivery so that both the mother and the infant are healthy.

The press note stated that every beneficiary gets Rs 5,000 financial support in two installments through direct bank transfer so that the mother and her kid get proper healthcare and nutrition.

It has further been claimed that Rs 1810.76 crore has been remitted directly to the bank accounts of 38.89 lakh pregnant women till date.
