Bhubaneswar: Amid Public Inconvenience and operational challenges, the Odisha government has extended the deadline for obtaining Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC) till March 31, 2026.
Announcing the extension, Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena stated that it will ensure adequate time for motorists to comply with pollution control norms.
The move follows reports of long queues at emission testing centers, limited PUCC facilities in districts, and concerns over penalties. “The decision prioritises public convenience, giving vehicle owners sufficient time to obtain PUCCs without hardship,” Jena said.
The extension allows for streamlining the process, expanding testing facilities, and raising awareness. The transport department will strengthen monitoring and ensure smoother enforcement.
The PUCC is mandatory under the Motor Vehicles Act to curb air pollution. Authorities will enforce norms in a phased, non-coercive manner till the deadline, providing relief to lakhs of vehicle owners.
