Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is fully prepared for the possible cyclone, informed Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra.
“Though it’s not yet clear on which direction the possible cyclone will move or hit which State, the State government is fully prepared,” said Mahapatra speaking to reporters here today. Collectors of coastal districts have been put on alert, he added.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic circulation over the South Andaman Sea & neighbourhood extending up to mid-tropospheric levels persists. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over the same region around 06th May. It is very likely to move northwestwards and intensify gradually into a Depression during the subsequent 48 hours.
