Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday announced a significant hike in the monthly remuneration of personnel serving in the Odisha Special Striking Force (OSSF), a move aimed at boosting the morale and welfare of the state’s elite security force.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi made the announcement through his official handle on social media platform X, stating that the proposal for salary revision across various ranks in the OSSF has received formal approval.

The OSSF comprises primarily of ex-servicemen from the Indian Army and Navy, along with retired personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF).

The state has recently set up three new battalions under this force to bolster internal security and disaster response capabilities.

As per the revised pay structure, the monthly remuneration for various categories has been enhanced as follows:

  • Sipahi (GD): Increased from Rs 30,000 to Rs 45,000
  • Lance Naik/Naik/Havildar (GD): Rs 32,000 to Rs 50,000
  • Junior Commissioned Officer (GD): Rs 40,000 to Rs 55,000

  • Syrang/Engine Drivers: Rs 32,000 to Rs 50,000

The Chief Minister described the hike as a gesture of recognition for the dedicated service and discipline of the retired defence and paramilitary personnel who form the backbone of the OSSF.
