Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday announced an increase in the remuneration of the cooks and helpers engaged in the preparation of mid-day meals in schools across the State.
The salary of cooks and assistants has been increased from Rs 1,400 to Rs 2,000. This will benefit the cooks and helpers working in 55,000 schools in the state. The State will spend Rs 74 crore per year for this.
The hike will be implemented retrospectively from October 2023, a release issued by the CMO stated.
In addition to this, the CM also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh to the kin of the cooks and helpers in case of death during job tenure.
As many as 1.10 lakh cooks and assistants working in 55,000 schools of the state will benefit.
