Bhubaneswar: The School and Mass Education Department has directed all schools in Odisha to take precautionary measures to tackle the heat wave situation during summer 2026.
In a letter to Directors and District Education Officers, the department emphasized ensuring availability of drinking water, ORS packets, and restricting outdoor activities.
Key guidelines include:
– Repairing tube wells to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply
– Keeping sufficient ORS packets for students and staff
– Sensitizing parents to send children with water bottles
– Allocating time for heat wave precautionary tips in schools
The advisory applies to all government, government-aided, and private schools. The Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha, has also issued guidelines for reference.
