Bhubaneswar: The Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Department has directed all District Magistrates to complete delimitation of wards and reservation of seats for the general election to 107 Municipalities/NACs (except Municipalities/NACs located in Scheduled Areas) starting from today.
Director of Municipal Administration, Sangramjit Nayak, in a letter to all District Magistrates on January 1, stated that the State Government has decided that the delimitation of wards and reservation of seats for the general election to Municipalities/ NACs of the State shall be made afresh.
The timeline for completion of various items of the programme as approved by the government is as under.
Delimitation of wards and Reservation of Seats by the concerned District Magistrate and the issue of draft notification inviting objections and suggestions on the proposed delimitation of wards and reservation of seats by the District Magistrates have to be completed by January 3.
The last date for receipt of objection and suggestions by the District Magistrates has been kept as January 12.
Publication of the Notification relating to the delimitation of wards and reservation of seats has to be completed by January 13.
Appeal against the publication of Notification made by the District Magistrates for delimitation of wards and reservations of seats before the Government in H & UD Department has to be completed by January 27 beginning January 13.
While appeals will be heard from January 28, the issue of final notification by the District Magistrates will be intimated later.
