Odisha Govt Launches ‘Videsh Siksha Bruti’ Scheme For SC/ST Students

Bhubaneswar: The Government of Odisha has introduced the Videsh Siksha Bruti Scheme, offering financial assistance of up to Rs 50 lakh to meritorious Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students pursuing Postgraduate and Ph.D. programs in top 200 QS-ranked foreign universities.

The scheme, effective from the 2025-26 academic year, aims to support 50 students annually, with applications invited twice a year in July-August and December-January.

Eligibility Criteria:

– SC/ST students with annual family income up to ₹12 lakh

– Confirmed admission in eligible foreign institutions

Scholarship Distribution:

– Engineering & Technical Education: 10 students

– Medical, Agriculture & Other Technical Courses: 10 students

– Courses under Higher Education: 30 students

Each selected student will receive up to Rs 25 lakh per year for a maximum of two years, covering tuition fees, living expenses, and research costs. The scheme is part of Odisha’s efforts to promote inclusive global education opportunities
