Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has initiated measures to strengthen Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and restore its past prominence by making its services compulsory across government offices.
Acting on directives from the Central Government, the Electronics and Information Technology Department has issued instructions to all departments mandating the use of BSNL’s internet, broadband, landline, and leased line services in government institutions wherever technically feasible.
The Cooperation Department has already acted on the order, issuing letters to all District Registrars of Cooperative Societies (DRCS) and Assistant Registrars of Cooperative Societies (ARCS) across the state. These officials have been directed to review existing arrangements and immediately adopt BSNL services without disrupting ongoing operations.
Further, DRCS and ARCS have been instructed to ensure that subordinate offices under their jurisdiction shift to BSNL services and submit compliance reports to the government by September 30.
Officials said the move is part of a broader initiative to strengthen the state-owned telecom operator and improve its service footprint across Odisha.
