Sambalpur: Odisha government is considering to make certain changes in the rules of Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act commonly known as RERA to simplify the process of purchase and sale of land in the state.
“RERA is such a law under which a land owner is unable to sell his/her land during emergencies like daughter’s marriage or for meeting cost of somebody’s medical treatment, education of children, etc. Therefore, my department will discuss with the Urban Development department on what amendments are needed and what amendments need to made in RERA,” stated Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari while speaking to reporters here on Monday.
Pujari said that the government has received complaints about difficulty faced by people during land registration process.
Therefore, it is necessary to bring changes in RERA and the Revenue department is looking into all aspects, he added.
The Minister said that e-registration process has been outsourced by the previous regime in the State and people have to depend on others. The government has received a lot of complaints in this regard, he added.
Pujari alleged that the outsourcing agency is paying low salary to its staff, and these employees are finding ways and means to meet their requirement by cheating people under this or that pretext.
The Minister also warned middlemen/brokers of strict action and said they will be barred from entering the office.
