**Bhubaneswar:** Homeless people who have constructed a house on land belonging to the State Government are likely to get ownership rights soon. Deliberations regarding this were held in a meeting chaired by Revenue Minister Maheswar Mohanty in the State Secretariat today.
“Today there was a second meeting over Government’s plan to regularise unopposed and unclaimed non-slum encroached land where people have constructed houses. A draft bill has been prepared for the same but no final decision was taken as the meeting remained inconclusive and would be held later,” said Mohanty.
It will be a second such initiative of the Naveen Patnaik-led government after the introduction of the Odisha Land Rights to Slum Dwellers Bill, 2017 which was passed by the State Assembly last year.
