Bhubaneswar: The Special Vigilance Court in Cuttack sentenced Senior Clerk of Mahakalapada Tahasil in Kendrapara district Madhaba Chandra Acharya to 2 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of Rs 5000 after convicting him for demanding and accepting bribe from an IAY beneficiary.
The Court further ordered that in default of payment of fine Acharya has to undergo further RI for 6 months more.
Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the dismissal of Acharya from service following his conviction, said an official press release.
