**Bhubaneswar:** In a bid to promote healthy competition among districts to do good work for the people, Odisha Government on Tuesday announced awards to honour the outstanding districts every year.
Addressing the valedictory session of the two-day Collectors’ Conference at the State Secretariat here, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said his government is taking pioneering initiatives in the field of social security by bringing 4 million old, destitute, widows and differently-abled under the field of different pension schemes.
Instructing the Collectors to ensure inclusion of additional beneficiaries by August this year, the CM said 3 lakh left-out eligible pensioners will be benefitted.
To acknowledge outstanding efforts and to motivate sincere team work in the districts, the state government will honour the districts every year for its pro-people performances in seven categories.
Best district in disbursement of incentives for rural pucca houses to receive an award of Rs 1 crore.
One best model GP selected in each of 30 districts to receive Rs 50 lakh award.
Best district in coverage of BPL households in rural electrification to be awarded Rs 1 crore.
Best district in overall tribal welfare to receive Rs 1 crore award.
Best district in implementation of Construction Worker Welfare Package to receive Rs 1 crore award.
Best district in Skill Development and Employment Generation to receive Rs 1 crore award.
Best district on credit linkage to Women SHGs will be honoured with Rs 1 crore award.
As announced on the inaugural day for rewarding top three best practices adopted in the districts, the CM honoured Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur and Khurda for achievement in food processing, anti-superstition drive and eye care initiatives respectively.
While Mayurbhanj bagged Rs 25 lakhs award, Nabarangpur Rs 15 lakh and Khurda Rs 10 lakh.
