Bhubaneswar: A high-level review meeting on the overall development of the Joranda-based Mahima Temple, the principal seat of Mahima Dharma, was held on Monday.

The meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg took place at the Conference Hall of Lok Seva Bhawan, where detailed discussions were held on constructing a grand and lofty temple structure by enclosing the existing Mahima Temple, also known as the Sunya Mandir—a unique shrine without an idol. Mahima Dharma propagates the ideals of simple living, equality, and the welfare of all living beings.

In addition to the main temple structure, the meeting reviewed proposals for the upgradation of several ancillary facilities within the temple premises. These include the Akhanda Jyoti Mandir (eternal flame temple), Bhajan Mandap (devotional singing hall), prayer hall, and the temple pond.

The development plan also encompasses modern infrastructure to improve pilgrim amenities, such as the construction of a kitchen (Rosha Ghara), pilgrim accommodation (Yatri Nivas), and systematic parking facilities.

Works Department Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh informed the Chief Secretary that, following the instructions of the Chief Minister, a comprehensive development plan for the Mahima Peetha has been prepared. The plan was finalized after extensive consultations with saints and followers of Mahima Dharma to ensure alignment with the spiritual philosophy and traditions of the faith.

The ambitious project is targeted for completion within three years and is expected to give a significant boost to religious and spiritual tourism in Odisha, opening a new chapter in the state’s tourism landscape.

The meeting was attended virtually by Dhenkanal District Collector Ashish Ishwar Patil. OBCSC Director Samir Hota and senior officials from various concerned departments were also present.
