Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has postponed the reopening of schools for the academic session after summer vacation, rescheduling it from June 18 to June 20, 2025.
This decision considers the current weather conditions, particularly the high temperatures and the transition into the monsoon season. Schools across the state will now reopen on June 20. Additionally, the government has directed that mid-day meals be served to students from the first day of reopening.
The School and Mass Education Department informed District Education Officers (DEOs) about the revised date of school reopening through a letter.
“In partial modification of the instructions, it is to inform you that the date of reopening of the schools may be read as 20.06.2025 instead of 18.06.2025. All other instructions communicated vide the letters shall stand as such,” the letter read.
Also, the Odisha government has directed all the DEOs to serve MDM to all the students (6 to 14 years) attending school from the first day of the reopening of schools after the summer vacation.
