Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday announced a one-time relaxation of eligibility criteria for the promotion of Sub-Inspectors to the rank of Inspector of Police.

The required period of continuous service has been reduced from 10 years to 7 years, effective January 1, 2024.

“After careful consideration of the proposal from the State Police Headquarters in Cuttack, the Government has decided to relax the eligibility criteria outlined in Rule 650(a)(ii) of the Orissa Police Manual. On a one-time basis, the required continuous service for Sub-Inspectors of Police, after completing the S.I. training course, is reduced from 10 years to 7 years as on 01.01.2024, for consideration for promotion to the rank of Inspector,” reads a notification issued by the Home Department on Wednesday.
