Odisha Govt Suspends OAS Officer Madhusmita Singh

Bhubaneswar: The State government has suspended a senior OAS officer, with immediate effect. Madhusmita Singh, who was serving as the Tahasildar of Jumada Tahsil in Mayurbhanj district, was previously the Executive Officer of Belpahar Municipality in Jharsuguda district.

A notification, issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, stated that the suspension order was issued under the OCS (CC&A) Rules, 1962. During the period of suspension, Singh’s headquarters will be at the Office of the Sub-Collector, Rairangpur, and she will not be allowed to leave the headquarters without prior permission from the Collector of Mayurbhanj.

Singh will be entitled to receive a subsistence allowance in accordance with Rule 90 of the Service Code during the suspension period. The suspension indicates that disciplinary proceedings are being contemplated against her.
