Odisha Govt Suspends Rayagada DFO On Charges Of Corruption, Sexual Harassment

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today suspended District Forest Officer (DFO) of Rayagada Forest division on charges of corruption, irregularities and sexual harassment at workplace.

“Debarchan Behera, OFS, DFO, Rayagada Forest Division has been placed under suspension with immediate effect by the State Government taking note of the sensitivity and seriousness of allegations against him,” said an official release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) this evening.

The allegations against Behera are corruption/irregularities relating to the construction and maintenance of government building, working on bamboo SSO coupes, purchase of store articles, etc and sexual harassment to women staff at the workplace, the release added.

The release stated that sexual harassment to women staff at the workplace is serious in nature and amounts to violation of provisions of Conduct rules for Government Servants, The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Act, 2013.

It added that further serious allegations against Behera are under enquiry.
