Bhubaneswar: In a major announcement, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced that in the event of a road mishap, the State government will bear the entire treatment expenses of the victim for 48 hours.
Expressing concern over the deaths of several persons in road mishaps, the Chief Minister said that it is of critical importance to provide emergency medical care to the victims immediately in the first 48 hours which can save several lives.
The Chief Minister made the announcement at Kuchinda in Sambalpur district today during the distribution of new Smart Health Cards to beneficiaries under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY).
Patnaik announced that the State government has constituted a fund of Rs 147 crore for the purpose.
He said that the expenses for treatment of road accident victims for the first 48 hours shall be met from this fund.
The Chief Minister reiterated, “Every life is precious for us.”
