Bhubaneswar: Expressing concern over the latest attack on a Plus II girl student in Puri district, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has assured that the state government will bear all medical expenses of the victim, who has been shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for specialised care.
The Deputy CM has also directed the police administration to immediately arrest the culprits and take stringent action against them.
Parida, expressing deep anguish over the incident, tweeted, “I am deeply pained and shocked to hear about the brutal attack on a 15-year-old girl in Balanga area of Puri district. The victim has been shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar, and all arrangements are being made for her treatment. The state government will bear all medical expenses. Police have also been directed to arrest the culprits immediately and take stringent action against them.”
Notably, the incident occurred on Saturday morning when the girl was walking to her friend’s house in Bayabari village under the Balanga police station.
According to eyewitnesses, three bike-borne youths intercepted the girl, poured a flammable substance on her, and set her ablaze before fleeing the scene. Locals rushed her to Pipili hospital, from where she was shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar due to the severity of her injuries.
