Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced plans to develop a ‘New Bhubaneswar’ spread over 800 acres. The project will include modern infrastructure such as parks, roads, drainage systems, an IT park, hospitals, residential areas, and commercial hubs.
Housing & Urban Development Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra on Monday said the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) will manage the project and expand its area to cover new localities like Malipada, Dasapur, Andharua, and Gothapatna.
The master plan for the new city has been prepared with help from the Singapore Government, inspired by successful models like Dholera Special Investment Region and GIFT City.
Dr. Mahapatra added that the new city will also focus on industries to boost investment and growth. The plan includes ample open spaces and pedestrian pathways to improve the quality of life.
