**Bhubaneswar:** Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today visited Baraghara village under Gangabada gram panchayat in Gajapati District and met the families affected in extremely severe cyclone Titli.
The CM announced that vulnerability mapping of all villages and habitations located in hilly and difficult regions will be made. All necessary facilities will be provided to the people, wherever they shift to other locations.
Expressing deep sympathy for the bereaved families, Naveen said, never in the history of Odisha people had ever died from landslide. Landslide is completely a new phenomenon in Odisha. All steps will be taken to rehabilitate the affected families.
“These landslide calamities were not really known before. Now we will take precautions to map them out and build shelters there for people who are hit by landslides. The people residing in these hills can come down and they will be given land for building houses,” Naveen said, after meeting the victims.
While the ex-gratia amount for the families of the deceased has been enhanced to Rs 10 lakh, an additional financial assistance of Rs 6 lakh will be met from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Later in the day, Naveen toured Bhanjanagar and reviewed the restoration work.
Many villagers of Baraghara have expressed their willingness to shift from hilltop to other locations. These new settlements will be declared as villages and all basic facilities like drinking water, anganwadi centres, school, community centres and health facilities will be provided, the Chief Minister announced.
Provisions of connectivity, homestead land, house building assistance, social security will be made immediately. State will take care of education and other expenses of children who have been orphaned due to the natural calamity, Naveen added.
