Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Saturday approved a proposal to extend One-time Cessation Benefit to Block Grant employees on superannuation after 60 years of age.
According to an official statement, the State Cabinet has been pleased to extend One-time Cessation benefit to block grant employees on superannuation after 60 years of age @ Rs 10 lakh for teaching staff and @ Rs 5 lakh for non-teaching staff for both retired and existing employees.
As many as 541 teaching employees and 649 non-teaching employees (already retired) and 847 nos of existing employees will get benefit and there will be a financial outlay of Rs 149.45 Crore during thc year.
Block grant system was introduced with promulgation of Grant-in-Aid Order, 2004 and subsequently, Grant-in-Aid Orders in the shape of block grant i.e., Grant-in-Aid Order,2008; Grant-in-Aid Order,2009; Grant-in-Aid Order,2009 (for Shastri & Upashastri colleges) and Grant-in-Aid Order,2014 are introduced.
The pension rule meant for the full grant employee is not applicable to employees of aided colleges covered under Grant-in-Aid orders in shape of Block Grant.
