Bhubaneswar: Apprehensions on the threat to Shree Jagannath Temple over the digging of holes on its periphery are baseless, stated Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha in the Odisha Assembly today.
Arukha said that work on the Shree Jagannath Temple Heritage Corridor project is underway and it will not cause any damage to the shrine.
He said the State Government is ready to constitute a House Committee in this regard when other committees of the Assembly will be constituted on March 31.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Shree Jagannath Temple Heritage Corridor project was raised during Zero Hour in the Assembly today.
BJP MLA from Puri Jayant Sarangi claimed that cracks had developed in the Jagannath temple after the ongoing heritage corridor works triggered vibration.
Sarangi said that no one is against development, but the government will be held responsible if any damage is caused to the shrine in the name of development.
Congress legislative party leader and Balangir MLA Narasingha Mishra also raised the issue in the House and demanded that a committee be formed and sent to Puri to inspect the project.
