Odisha Govt To Introduce Solid Waste Management In School Syllabus

Bhubaneswar: As many as 114 urban areas of Odisha generate 2,575 tonnes of solid waste per day and every household produces about 300 grams of solid waste daily. These statistics were presented at a high level meeting at the Lok Seva Bhavan here on Thursday.

Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy while presiding over this meeting highlighted on raising awareness among citizens for appropriate disposal of solid waste. Senior officials present at the meeting were advised by the Chief Secretary to include solid waste management (SWM) in school syllabus.

Tripathy directed the Forest and Environment and Urban Development Departments to ensure that more plastic in cement factory and roads. Among others, Mona Sharma, Nikunja Dhal, DK Singh and G Mathivathnan were present at the meeting.
