Bhubaneswar: Odisha is poised to become the country’s pharma hub with the state government organizing a pharma conclave, which is expected to create over 2.5 lakh jobs in the sector. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced this initiative on Independence Day, highlighting the state’s commitment to economic growth and development.

Additionally, the state government has decided to provide extra support under the Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. Eleven districts, including the 8 KBK districts, Boudh, Gajapati, and Kandhamal, will receive an additional 5 kg of rice free of cost. This benefit will be extended to families with over 27 lakh people for three months, with a total distribution of 41,082 metric tons of rice. The state government will bear the cost of around Rs 180 crore.

In terms of infrastructure development, Odisha aims to build 75,000 km of high-quality roads in the next five years. The state also plans to construct four new ports in Inchudi, Bahuda, Subarnarekha, and Astaranga. Furthermore, 21 new notified area councils will be formed to drive rapid development and growth, considering only 17% of the state’s population currently resides in urban areas
