Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is committed to refunding all depositors affected by chit fund scams, regardless of the amount invested, assured BJP Odisha President Manmohan Samal on Friday.
Speaking at a press conference, Samal said the refund process is already in progress and is expected to be completed within the next four months. He revealed that a list of five lakh eligible depositors has been prepared for the upcoming phase of disbursement.
“We stand by the commitment made in our Sankalp Patra. Whether a person has invested Rs 10,000 or Rs 10 lakh, their money will be refunded,” he affirmed.
Highlighting the government’s progress, Samal said that within the last year, 1,26,137 depositors have already received their refunds. “This is a continuous process. Once the official list is prepared, funds will be returned phase-wise,” he explained.
He further emphasized that even minimal documentation will be accepted as valid proof. “If someone provides even a small piece of paper as evidence, we will consider it and ensure they are refunded,” Samal added.
Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, he said, “Thanks to the Chief Minister’s initiative, more than 1.26 lakh investors have already been repaid. Now, with the new list ready, another five lakh depositors will receive their dues in the next four months.”
Samal reiterated that the data for these depositors was collected from multiple sources, and the government is determined to fulfil its promise to every eligible investor.
