Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to education, the Odisha government announced plans to reopen schools that were previously shut down due to the school merger policy of the previous government, informed the Minister of School and Mass Education Nityananda Gond at Odisha Assembly on Friday.
Replying to a question raised by Attabira MLA Nihar Ranjan Mahananda on the measures being taken to facilitate the reopening of schools shut down due to merger policy, Gond said, “Upon receiving a proposal regarding the reopening of such schools that were previously closed due to lack of students, the proposal will be investigated by the district-level committee before sending it to the state-level committee for consideration. As per the recommendation of the state-level committee, the closed school will be reopened following the policy guidelines. Once approved, the state government will facilitate the reopening of the school.”
